Mike and I have been planning an April reunion of his Purdue friends. We will be heading out to Breckenridge, Colorado for a long weekend of hiking (if it’s warmish), skiing or snowshoeing (if it’s snowy), and mostly hanging out together and catching up. We’re really looking forward to it. We got a really good deal on a house to rent– it can accomodate all 17 (maybe 18) adults and 4 kids! It has 8 bedroom areas and a bunch of pull-out couches and 9 bathrooms! You can check it out here: Alpenview Lodge.
Should be a good time.
Sorry we haven’t posted in a while. Since it’s also cold here, we’re not taking E outside that much and don’t have much to report. We’ve been cranking through ‘To Do’ lists the last few weekends. The weekend before last E’s Nanny came to visit. This last weekend we were big on filing. Liz went through paperwork and I organized/backed up all of our digital photos to DVD. We all have colds at some level or another. E has helped me understand what I would look like if I never wiped my runny nose. I took a big nap on Saturday with E. Let’s see, what else has been going on? There was a ride-and-drive at work last week. Ride-and-drives are where we get to drive all kinds of equipment that we don’t work on directly. So I got to work a back hoe, skid steer, tractors, etc. It was really fun.
On the TV front, I saw Monk’s new assistant last Friday. I’m not sold. I hope the show doesn’t go downhill from here. Tonight the first 10 minutes of 24 has been really hyped, we’ll see. I like 24 but it is definitely not for kids.
I have one picture that I can post. Jed took it of E and O. On a day when I had class and Liz was interviewing people, Jed helped us out by picking up E and taking care of her for a little while. It looks like they had fun.

We spent most of the weekend trying to get life back in order after our holiday trip and a long workweek. Lucky for us, Anne and Jed asked us if we would like to go for a Sunday hike through Schenk Forest. We had a great time. This is a hike that Jed likes to do with O and Jack. Jack is their beautiful Weimaraner. Jack’s got a lot of energy and loves to run and meet other dogs in the park. It was pretty funny watching all the dogs in the cars as their owners pulled up to park. I could flash back to a trip to Disney World watching the kids coming into the parking lot. There was the same excitement and anticipation. This hike was the first time that we were able to use the backpack that Pete and Paula got us when E was born. E is big enough now to hold her head steady for long periods. All the straps were on the smallest setting, but that’s good because we plan to use the pack for a long time. Here’s a pic of E with her dad:
It was nice to go for the long walk with Anne and Jed. O continues to impress. Not only can he can sit up by himself and play now, he can also walk if you hold his hands. Here’s a picture of the young family out and about on a Sunday (Jack was too busy to be in the photo):
Later we ran some errands. E loves to sleep when we drive anywhere (this was a big asset on our holiday trip). Here she is too tired to put her binky down. Check our her cool Pooh hat (thanks, Strebels!).
