Adwoa und Ama

E is old enough now to recognize stuffed animals. She loves dogs and was very excited when this one flew in for her birthday. She was so attached, that she couldn’t put it down during dinner on her birthday. Amazingly enough, very little broccoli or spaghetti got on puppy. (E has gotten so many nice presents, she will be writing thank you notes for some time. I need a little time to put together some video and sound.)

This picture is from the weekend. Aunt Deb, Granddaddy and Nanny came to celebrate E’s first birthday. Here we were out at another Italian restaurant having more spaghetti. E and mom are having a very good time.

This morning we all went to the park. This is E’s first ride on a swing. She wasn’t sure about it at first, but liked it after a few pushes. The slide was blistering hot, so we’ll wait until the weather cools down a bit for that. E did a lot of walking holding just one hand. She is even standing by herself for short periods of time.

Here E and Dad are walking around some of the equipment. E can climb one or two stairs, but with a high risk of falling. We are going to practice getting up and climbing down on her foam chair for a while.

E has a second puppy too! We are still calling this husky “Puppy” but may switch to “Doggie” so that we can differentiate. Maybe E will start to understand the difference between young and mature too. It will be some time for that though. She is still using various forms of “Da Da” or “Daaa Daaa” for almost every noun.

Last weekend we went down to the ocean to celebrate Es first birthday. Anne, Jed and O made the long trip down from Baltimore. Mer and Onie came too. They made the drive from Greensboro after work on Friday night. It was very nice to be able to spend time with all of them. It was a very relaxing weekend. This was the first time that Anne and Jed had met Mer. O continues to impress. He knows how to walk and has several words in his vocabulary.

We went to the beach on Saturday. It was pretty hot, so there was a lot of sitting in umbrella shade. Like our visit to Matt and Becky’s, E still didn’t like the waves. I walked with her for a while near the edge, but she never got comfortable. She did like watching all the people though. She was content to sit on her beach chair and eat Cheerios. I’ll post more pictures this week. This is a week that I’m more behind that others.

E really likes all of her presents. Thank you everyone. It is going to be hard for her not to be spoiled. She is very lucky to have such a great family and so many surrogate Aunts and Uncles. Time will tell, but with the help of her new toys, she should be know how to walk, sing her ABCs, and count to ten by her next birthday.

E typed a bit while I was removing a cord from the back of the computer. She likes playing with the keyboard. I think it’s the sound it makes.
