Swimming

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 2:35 am

Okay, so we haven’t been great at posting lately. Sorry.
The heat has broken here, and it’s still pretty warm, but not unbearable.
E has been getting good use out of her kiddie pool– almost every day we “swim.” I know that Mike has some good video to share, but I just wanted to post a few pics in the meantime.

E goes in the water and sits in the pool and plays with her toys. But she also likes to sit in her own chair and dangle her feet in, like Mommy & Daddy do…

The other day, we talked to Grandma & Be-pa while we were outside. E loves talking on the phone and constantly says “Have it!” when one of us is talking, demanding it for herself.

Meanwhile, J also likes to enjoy the great outdoors and it’s really nice in the evening, when the sun is blocked by the house next door. Perfect time for getting some outside time in her bouncy seat .

Clearly, she’s pondering the great outdoors… or longing to swim with her sister…

E is getting to be a big girl… 2 is just around the corner…

We’re warm.

Walking in Kaiserslautern

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 7:36 am

Saturday, I got my hair cut in Kaiserslautern, the city closest to Landstuhl and Ramstein US military facilities, where some games of the World Cup were just played, and, most important, where we go for Mexican food. While I got my haircut, Michael and the girls explored downtown Kaiserslautern. Here’s J enjoying the sights…

Okay, that’s about as much as she likes sightseeing. But Michael and E had a great time. And when I finished with my haircut, I joined them. The city has a nice Saturday market that we were able to enjoy. Apparently, E has hankerings for bratwurst in the morning… that’s what she asked Daddy for, and that’s what she got. There were others in the market having 9 AM beers, so why shouldn’t she have a brat?

We also enjoyed a break from the morning sun by sitting at a nice outdoor cafe on one of the many plazas. Perfect morning for it.

Michael put together a video of our adventures in Kaiserslautern…
You can download it here. Again, it’s big. We’ll take it down in a couple days.

In other important news, Michael and E found NPR on short-wave radio this morning… we’re still figuring out how often we will get NPR programming– is it really like an NPR station?– but so far we’ve heard Click & Clack, Prairie Home Companion, and Morning Edition (at 2 in the afternoon…). We’re pretty excited!
