We Survived… And Lobster Sweaters

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 8:53 am

The short version… It went pretty well… She cried for a bit last night, fell asleep, and woke up once in the night, needing consoling. But overall, not too bad.

If you’d like the details….
E was very excited when she got home from daycare and we decorated a bag and put all her bipsies in there, with ribbons tied on each one “for the babies.” She “wrote” a letter to the Bipsy Fairy to tell the BF that the bipsies were for the babies and to ask for a “big, big present.”

She needed to “say goodbye” to each bipsy before it went into the bag.

We all bundled up and went outside and hung the bag on a tree.

Then we got in the car and went to McDonald’s… we thought distraction was a good idea. E was mostly good at McDonald’s and then we came home. After her bath, E started to ask for her bipsy and got upset when we reminded her that they were all gone. She was able to keep it together while she watched some of 2 videos that she really likes (Care Bears and Sesame Street… aka “Big Bird Movie.”). at 8:15, she got into bed, crying, and continued to cry, sob, or wail for an hour. At 9:15, she fell asleep. She woke up at about 2:30 and started crying again. She cried off-and-on for an hour, while Daddy lay next to her for comfort. He left and soon thereafter, she fell asleep again. She woke up at her usual time, 7, in a fine mood. She was very excited to see what the BF had left her. While I got her up and changed her diaper, Michael put the bag on the tree with all the presents inside. It was a really good thing that we hadn’t left the bag out overnight because it snowed last night for the first time all season. It is beautiful today. E was pretty excited to go outside and get the bag from the tree and see what was inside.

And she wanted to carry the bag in, herself, of course.

There were a few small but nice presents in there…. since she was born, she has gotten some presents that she was too little for, or has been so overloaded with presents at one time, that we have put some aside before she has opened them. She has a pretty good stash of presents she doesn’t even know about. So we pulled 5 or 6 things from that stash and put those in the bag. Her favorites– a new small Care Bear (she loves the Care Bears since she got 2 and a video for Christmas), a Pooh matching game (she’s really into matching these days), and a mini Etch-a-Sketch, which seemed quite fascinating to her. We did some shopping this morning, for groceries and some electronics, and she was a really good girl. She fell asleep in the car on the way home (we got home about 1:00) and we thought we were home free…. Michael carried her in, got her upstairs, and she woke up. She fought sleep and cried a bit (off and on) for an hour and 15 minutes and then fell asleep. This is a really late start for her, but it’s okay, considering…. So that’s the long version. If you have read this far, you must really love her. Thank you! She’s doing fine.

Today we got both girls dressed in their awesome lobster sweaters before we went shopping. Thanks Aunt Paula, Uncle Pete, S, & N! They look just like Maine girls….

Happy Birthday! And wish us well….

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 5:12 am

We want to wish B-Pa a very, very happy birthday! Hope it is a great day!

It will definitely be a memorable day in Zweibrücken… Tonight the Bipsy Fairy comes (a la tooth fairy). E will put all her pacifiers (there are like 6 of them now…) in a special bag and hang it on a tree tonight for the Bipsy Fairy. Tomorrow morning there will be presents for her in the bag, where the bipsies used to be. The Bipsy Fairy will take all the bipsies to babies who are being born and need them. We’ve been talking about this with her for a couple of weeks now. We think she’s ready, even if she doesn’t really get that they will be gone for good yet… Ah, well…. I read about this method online… apparently it comes from SuperNanny or Nanny 911… :-) We’ll see how it goes. Wish us luck…

Getting ready for bed

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 3:30 am

Just a couple quick pics. The girls have been very good this week. Here are a couple pictures just before we started getting ready for bed. I forgot to “lock” one of the cabinets and E went exploring. She found all the individual size cereals that we bought when Matt and Becky came. Raisin Bran was the toy of choice for both E and J.

I made a short movie from playing at the Fasanerie on Sunday. E really liked running. She also liked picking up muddy sticks and stirring puddles.

You can see a video of E’s good work here.
