It was a relaxing weekend at our house. On Saturday during naptime, we all took naps. First time ever, I think.
Yesterday, E and Daddy planted seeds in our new garden. J cheered them on.

It was a beautiful day. We all enjoyed our time outside.
This year, E is big enough to really enjoy our swing. We’re so glad we have it.
J has been babbling up a storm lately. Tonight when I was getting her dressed after her bath, I said, “I see you baby!” She babbled back…. Michael and I both looked at each other in disbelief. It sounded like she had repeated back exactly what I had said in babble. Well, at least it did to us….
You can see a video of J talking here. Now, you probably won’t recognize any actual words if you listen. We don’t. And this video probably qualifies as “only interesting to grandparents.” Consider yourselves warned.

While not as structured as the daycare that E went to in the States, E and J still do art projects at the Kinderkrippe. This is a painting that E did. J made a similar painting, but it is the 9-month-old version… a bit more abstract. Notice that everything is made out of handprints… the sun, the tree branches, the grass at the bottom. We thought that was pretty creative.
Michael made a quick video of Uncle Rog’s visit last weekend. We really enjoyed seeing Rog and showing him around. We went to dinner at our favorite German restaurant Friday night after picking Rog up at the train station. Saturday morning, Rog helped E put the Easter eggs on the Bipsy Fairy tree. Then we took a little trip to Trier. It was a very quick trip, but still gave us plenty of time to talk and catch up. We went to dinner again Saturday night. It was a going-away dinner for our friends Shannon and Bill. They moved back to the States this week. It was hard to see them go. They helped us a lot when we moved to Zw. Ms. Shannon and Mr. Bill will be missed. Before they left, they dropped off their food items, even packaged ones…. forbidden by the movers, apparently. When Jenny moved back to the States in December, she did the same thing. We now have a lifetime supply of baking powder, cinnamon, and more forms of sugars than we knew existed (light brown, dark brown, powdered, cubed, etc. etc.) . If anyone needs any… just holler.
You can see a video of Rog’s visit here.
In the car on the ride home today….
“Did you sing some songs today?”
“Uh-huh. About the Ostern Hase.” (Easter Bunny)
Pause
“I don’t want the Ostern Hase to come to our house, Mommy. I’m scared.”
“Okay, honey. We’ll call him and tell him not to come this year.”
(Repeat 6 or 7 times on the way home)
“You call him. I want to stay in the car.”
When we got home, E stayed in the car. I called the Ostern Hase (Daddy at work) from my cell phone, just outside the car. The Ostern Hase agreed not to come this year. E was satisfied and she got out of the car.
Looking out the window, waiting for Daddy to come home, seeing a few small bugs outside on the windowsill…. “Oh no! Leafcutter ants!” Needless to say, Mommy was quite surprised to hear this exclamation. Apparently, in one of the Dora movies, there are leafcutter ants…. I will have to read up on them.
She’s funny. And unpredictable. And she knows a lot. And repeats everything she hears.
