On Friday afternoon, E and Daddy got haircuts. E asked for a ponytail from Gabi, her hairdresser, and Gabi was happy to oblige.

After a dinner on the patio, the girls took a bath together. J has graduated from her infant tub and the girls have been sharing a bath. We did have to have an immediate evacuation one evening, however…. E did not exactly appreciate being showered off in the upstairs bathroom, where we don’t have a tub. Ah, well…
Michael made this video of our time in Vienna. We had a really nice time, and as you can see, the weather cooperated. We hope you enjoy it. Budapest video to come.
You can access the video here. It is big so save it. We’ll take it down in a few days, hopefully replacing it with the next video.
For Nine

Just a quick update from us….
The weather here has been beautiful all week, and is scheduled to be this way for the foreseeable future. It has been in the 70s and sunny every day. The lilacs have bloomed and the spring flowers are up. There is a huge lilac tree that I pass on my way to work– it looks like a giant magnolia from North Carolina. I will try to remember to take a picture since it is the hugest lilac tree I have ever seen. Quite impressive.
On Monday afternoon, E was scheduled to have her first swimming lesson at the community indoor pool which is just down the street. That did not exactly happen… after she met her very nice teacher, she decided she was not moving from the lobby to the pool area, even though Daddy and J were going with her. We will try again this coming Monday and see what happens.
Both girls have been healthy this week (knock wood) and have slept pretty well at night (again, do some knocking, please).
We have a busy weekend planned– zoo tomorrow with an American couple and their 2-year-old son. They are expecting a baby in the summer and want to talk Birth in Germany. Sunday we will go to a 3rd birthday party of one of E’s friends from Kinderkrippe. And… we will actively start potty training this weekend. Tuesday is a holiday (Labor Day), so Monday Michael and I will split the day at home with E to continue our training. 4 days of fairly focused effort. Wish us well.
Today we enjoyed being a bit lazy at home for most of the day, and went to the zoo this afternoon.
E wore her new sunglasses to the zoo, which she was quite happy about. They have strawberries on them.
Michael, as ever, juggled many balls last week while I was gone. E didn’t get the memo that she was supposed to make this past week as easy as possible on her daddy… on Thursday afternoon, she was sent home with a fever. Poor girl. Michael took her to the doctor on Thursday afternoon and the doctor wanted to follow up on Friday morning to be sure she had improved. I finished my meetings on Thursday as planned and was able to catch a late flight home, instead of the scheduled Friday morning flight. I was able to stay home with her on Friday and she was fine all day– no fever, nothing unusual. We were all ready for the weekend.
Tomorrow should be another lazy day.
