Tamar visits

Filed under: General — Samillena @ 8:09 pm

My cousin, Tamar, works for a company headquartered in Omaha and she has meetings there tomorrow. Since Omaha is only 1-1/2 hours away, she decided to stop by Des Moines on her way! We were really glad to have her here.

We hung out on Saturday and cooked dinner at home– just caught up. It has been 4 years since we saw her… way too long.

This morning we went to the Science Center in Des Moines. It was great! We had not been there yet, although it is part of our membership with the zoo and the Living History Farms. We had been saving it for a bad weather day, and today fit the bill. Cold, rainy, and even a bit of snow for an hour or two. A good indoor day.

After the Science Center, Michael took the girls back home for naptime and Tamar and I went to the Des Moines Art Center. It is a really nice museum. The highlight right now is that Grant Wood’s famous painting, “American Gothic” is on display there for a few months. Good to be able to share some real Iowa culture with Tamar!

E went shopping with me at Target on Saturday before Tamar came and she was a good helper, so I let her pick out something special from the Target $1 area. She picked out “princess gloves”. And she wanted to get a pair for her sister, too. She REALLY loved dressing like a princess. She and J both wore princess dresses to dinner last night. Tamar, Michael, and I were quite under-dressed.

I never posted a picture of E’s play, A Wolf at the Door, which she did at the end of January. She got a bit nervous during the course of the play, but beforehand, she and her friends were nothing but excitement. These are two good friends, G, and M. M (Bo Peep) lives across the street and is E’s best friend.

As for other stuff…. the girls both have bad colds. We are using tissues like they are going out of style. But they are okay, generally. Tuesday night Michael and I will attend an orientation session for parents of incoming KINDERGARTENERS! Wow. E will start in July since it is a year-round school.

As for work– both Michael and I are liking what we are doing and feeling challenged. No complaints.

Sorry it has been a month. We apologize and will try to do better!!
