Not Much Happening Here

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

There is not much happening here. Last night we hosted a BBQ dinner at our place. Our friends Lynn and Lucas were up here from Temecula for the San Francisco Marathon. Lucas ran in the race (completed it in a little over 4 hours). Also attending the BBQ last night was our friend (introduced to us by Lynn and Lucas) Sue from Chicago, and her friend Sabina from Germany. We all had a great time having good food and wine. The night ended in all of us playing Guitar Hero on Play Station 2. I got hooked on the game after we played it at a friends place. Me, being the typical me, bought it while Scott was away in Philadelphia for work. Yes, I am keeping up with buying something or redecorating the apartment when he leaves on business trip. Other than all of this, we are counting down the days to our trip to Hawaii, Scott’s birthday, and (Scott only on this one) the end of our Verizon contract. Yes everyone, Scott is still obsessing over the iPhone.

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

OK, so I’m sure that many of you think that we are dead. Sorry, we’re not. I would like to first say that I did make it back from Germany safely. I had a great time with Mike, Liz and the girls. I only wish I could have spent more time with them. To get everybody up to speed, I decided to create a list of what’s new. So here we go…..

New work issues
Who cares, it’s work, it sucks.

New vacation plans
We are going camping next week for 3 days in the hills between Sonoma and Napa Valleys. Yes, it is not real camping. We will sleep in our tent, but the food will be prepared by a chef who worked under the chef at The French Laundry . We have never been to the French Laundry, but we would like to go. The only problem is that you have to make reservations 6 months in advance and take out a second mortgage. We have also booked a long weekend in Waikiki after I found a great deal, $550 for 4 nights including airfare! Check this out if you are looking for good travel deals - Pleasant Holidays.

New Plant
After searching for a while I was successful at finding a bat lily. Bat Lily.
Scott hates it and is afraid of it.

Speaking of new plants, the planting outside our entrance is fabulous this year.
Ent Flowers

New wine we are drinking
Scott went a little geeky and cataloged our wine cellar online. It is a great little system to keep track of your inventory, best time to drink, and reviews. If your interested in what we are drinking and the ratings, Scott loves to rate the wines, Set up a free account at - Manage Your Cellar. and we then can give you access to our cellar.

New Music
We just went to see VNV Nation on Monday. This is our second time seeing them and they put on a good show. We got to see them at the historic Fillmore Theatre.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Nick Cave. Even Scott likes his stuff with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but he is not such a big fan of the earlier The Birthday Party.

Another favorite band I have been listening to is Otep. It is really great to see women breaking into the nu-metal music seen. Their video for Warhead is a great political video. Take a look.

New visits
Our friend Debby Debby Alcatraz and her friend Felix Felix SF visited us a couple weeks ago. She had to go to LA for work and drove up here to spend a week with us. We had a great time being tour guides. Being Puerto Rican, we had to party our butts off to keep up with them. Many fine dinners, many fine bottles of wine and many late nights later, we bid them a fond (in Roger and Debby’s case - tearful) goodbye. We have become pretty good at being professional tour guides and, if you would like a tour, come on out before we have to move (yes, there is a possibility).

New Cell Phone
We don’t have one (yet), but if I have to spend one more minute listening to Scott obsess about the iPhone I think I’ll go crazy. I do expect to come home after finding out that my current cell phone does not work to find new iPhones on the counter and Scott smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

Well I think I have blabbed on enough. If there is something you think I forgot to update, let me know and I’ll fill everybody in.

Later for now,
