Valencia Photos

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I’m glad Paula liked the initial Bauhaus presentation of our trip photos, I now have some time to actually post a few. Speaking of art and architecture movements, this first photo is a picture of the new art museum in Valencia. It is part of the new City of Arts and Sciences.

Art Museum

Another amazing structure in this “city” was the new IMax theater,

The final large structure in this “city” was the Sciences Museum which is shown behind us posing with our friend Neil from England.

This Arts and Sciences City was stumbling distance from our hotel. We all liked having a glass of Champagne and watch the sun set from the balcony.

The new art museum was not opened yet, but we did go to the Museum of Classical Art. Marc and Neil love portraits and the Museum had a nice collection. This is a pic of us sitting acoss the street from the gallery.

Our favorite place to eat dinner or just hang out was a plaza named after each of us, Plaza de la Virgin. There were people hanging out every night until 1 or 2 in the morning. The Spanish are very social people.

The rest of our visit has no photos because Marc and Neil went back to England without a camera. We will have to just go back to take those pictures next year. Well, maybe the four of us in Madrid, or Portugal.

On the way home

Well we are sitting in Heathrow airport waiting for our flight home. England was fun, but very expensive. We had a great time with our friends Marc and Neil, and we are looking forward to meeting up with them in Palm Springs next month. The flight from Valencia to Bournmouth was a disaster. We spent the night in the airport and our flight took off 6 1/2 hours late at 4 in the morning. To make things worse, we were forced to land at Luton airport which is a 3 hour coach (bus) ride from Bournemouth. And to top it all off, there was a bad accodent on the M5 (read as the only expressway to where we were going. It took 2 1/2 hours for our coach to get to the airport. We arrived to be greated by Marc to be wisked away to their house where champagne and pizza (after a nice shower) awaited us. We left the next morning by rail to London. My stomach illness had not gotten better, and by 1/2 a day of sightseeing had turned for the worse. I was in the bathroom most of the night, and Scott was plotting how to get me to the hospital. After vomiting twice, and getting some sleep, I was good to go. Scott dragged me on a tour of London that was much like the Grand Canyon scene in Vacation. It looks like we will make it home safely. We do have few pics to post, and for Jeannine I will do some drawings.

Vacation Update

Hey All,

It’s 1:25AM and we are stuck at the airport in beautiful Valencia, Spain. Our flight is delayed by 6 hours due to the plane being stranded in England. Roger is sleeping on the bench next to me - his stomach is a little upset due to lack of sleep (read as too much partying) and a lot of good food, wine and friends. Valencia was great! We can’t wait to come back. Our good friends Marc and Neil are letting us stay at their stunning house in southern England, if we ever get there that is. Then it’s off to London for a couple days and back home on Sunday. Luckily staying out partying until 4AM every night (including one really long night and following day in Denmark) has erased my jet lag, but poor Roger is still a week behind me in that regard. Anyhow, chip, chip, cheery o’ and all that bother (trying to get ready for England).

Life has been very busy since Deby left. Work has been very crazy for us both. Scott has been in Copenhagen since Saturday, and I have been working and sick all week. I just had time over the weekend to download the balloon pictures. I will post them when I get back. Yes,I am at the airport on my way to meet Scott at London Heathrow on our way to Valencia Spain with our friends from England. There will be no pictures because I forgot the camera.
