Yesterday’s Dive

September 15th, 2009

The dive yesterday was very nice. The first dive was at a wreck. It was at 90 feet of water and still in good shape. There was a lot of coral, and we did see a Sting Ray on the way down. There was a tourist submarine that came around which was kind of cool to see. The second dive was only in about 30 feet of water. It was an old pier the was destroyed due to poor design. It has become a great start to a reef. There were many types of coral living on it, which daws a lot of different fish to the area. We had spotted a giant sea turtle, which in turn spotted us. It swam very close by Scott and then headed directly for me. I watched him come straight at me thinking he was going to headbutt me. At the last second he he pulled up a little and brushed over my head as he swam on. Very cool!
We went to dinner at a nice place called The Plantation House. Scott had a very special dinner companion, a small lizard crawled up him and took up residency on his arm. I managed to catch it and release it back outside. Got many looks from the surrounding tables.
Today is a relaxation day. No plans. Pool, beach, reading, and a whole lot of nothing. We might schedule the 5 zip line tour for latter in the week, but that is all we plan on doing today.

Life is Good

Another night of sleeping to the sound of the ocean. We have sheduled to go diving this afternoon. It is a 2 tank dive, the first is a wreck about 90 feet under water, and the second is a reef dive. We have dove here before, but never these sites. This should be good since the water visibility is usually 100 ft here. Yesterday we did not do much but lay around in the sun. In the afternoon we watched the Bears/Packets game which was fun because our friends Rick and Dave are also originally from Chicago.

A good night’s sleep

September 13th, 2009

The reason for the Maui trip is because of our friends Rick and Dave. They have a fabulous timeshare here. It’s at the Weston Kaanapaili Resort. It is actually 2 separate suites that are on the top floor facing the ocean. The view is wonderful. We are about 100 feet from the ocean. Last night we slept with the patio door open to hear the ocean. I was able to get 10 hours sleep which is unheard of for me. So far we have no planned activities except to relax. We are thinking about doing a zipline adventure, I’ll keep you updated on that.

It’s been a while!

Guilt has finally gotten the best of me. I figured I better post before I get into much trouble with Josie (love you)! We are sitting at the airport at 5:00am waiting for our flight to Maui for a much needed/required vacation. Both of us have been working way too much. Scott has managed to fly over 250,000 miles in the last 6 months! It seems like he is never home!

We have made a final decision to move into the City. San Mateo is nice, but we think San Francisco will offer more. We will be hunting for a new apartment when we get back. As things always work, it looks like Scott will be traveling when we make the move. It looks like he will either be in Switzerland, Italy, or China. We have decided to wait until we have a better idea how Scott’s job situation after the complete integration with Roche.

Some other recent news… We were camping last weekend and had a rattle snake take up residence in our camp site. I was one of the brave one who did not run away screaming like a little school girl. Another guy and I herded the snake into a wooden box to be relocated elsewhere. We also went to see the world premire of Green Day’s “American Idiot” the musical in Berkley. It was fun to see a stage performance of one of my favorite CDs.

Another Airport Posting

April 5th, 2009

Well, I’m at the San Diego airport on my way home. I’m ready to be back home after Nikki’s wedding, 2 days of diving, a day of flying, 3 summit meetings, and a weekend with our friends Lynn & Lucas. Scott has made it safely to Seoul. He went on a 6 hour walking tour and the company he is auditing had set up to take him to the ballet. Scott does not seem to be a ballet kind of guy so it will be interesting to hear his review. I am sure that Bucca will be plenty pissed at me when I get home. A Scott was home for a day on Wednesday and said that she gave him plenty of attitude when she saw him packing again.
